This program helps children build and maintain knowledge of our beautiful country while away from home.

Families with children (aged 3-12) will find a printable PDF file below that includes colouring pages, fun facts and statistics for each Canadian Province and Territory. It’s a great way for families to explore our wonderfully diverse country. Please feel free to share photos of your children enjoying the program with your local MFS(E) centre so we can share them on Facebook and display them in our centres.

  • Alberta
    Let’s travel to the western province of Alberta. Its landscape encompasses mountains, prairies, desert badlands, and vast coniferous forests. It has more than 600 lakes and rich mineral deposits. Alberta is primarily known for oil and has the third-largest oil reserves in the world after Venezuela and Saudi Arabia. It is also known for its vast farming and cattle ranching areas, vast northern forests, the Rocky Mountains, cold winters, and excellent skiing.

  • British Columbia
    Beautiful British Columbia! Let's travel to Canada's westernmost province, defined by its Pacific coastline and mountain ranges. British Columbia is the third-largest province in Canada and it's four times the size of Great Britain! It's home to the world's largest hockey stick, is the Bathtub Racing capital of the world, and it's among the top three cranberry and blueberry producing regions in the world.   • Manitoba
    Let's learn about Canada's central province Manitoba! It is home to the "polar bear capital of the world", but it also has many beautiful lakes, rivers, mountains and forests. Much of the wilderness is protected in more than 80 provincial parks where hiking, biking, canoeing, camping and fishing are all popular.     Explore New Brunswick and all of its natural wonders! Canada’s only officially bilingual province has tons to discover like the Hopewell Rocks, Reversing Falls, and several beautiful beaches. Scroll through to see the kaleidoscope of colour that paints New Brunswick's landscape each year, from the emerald greens of summer to fiery fall reds and cool winter whites.   • Northwest Territories
    Discover the Northwest Territories which extends far above the Arctic Circle. Here see the northern lights dance an average of 200 nights a year. The Northwest Territories is as big as France, Portugal and Spain combined, but when you include the lakes that freeze in the winter, it’s considerably larger. The Northwest Territories is also home to Canada’s largest national park, Wood Buffalo National Park and recognizes 11 official languages.   • Nova Scotia
    Let’s explore beautiful Nova Scotia, a province of eastern Canada, part of the Maritimes, on the Atlantic coast. Bordered by New Brunswick on the West, it is surrounded by the Atlantic Ocean to the south and east. Discover this beautiful seaside province that was one of the four original provinces of the Dominion of Canada. Nova Scotia is home to the world’s highest tides and one of the world's most photographed lighthouses.   • Nunavut
    Travel through the massive, sparsely populated territory in northern Canada, Nunavut! Discover its land, people, and culture. If Nunavut were a country, it would be the world's 15th largest. Roughly 75% of the world’s narwhal population migrate into Nunavut’s island estuaries. And the entire territory of Nunavut has just under 32 kilometres of paved roads, so people travel using planes, boats, and snowmobiles. Nunavut is also home to the highest percentage of Inuit, Metis, and First Nation Peoples in Canada and has four official languages. What else will you learn about this beautiful territory?   • Ontario
    Let's learn about the second-largest province in Canada, Ontario which covers over one million square kilometres, and is larger than France and Spain combined. Besides being Canada's economic hub, Ontario is also known for its natural diversity, including vast forests, beautiful provincial parks, four of the five Great Lakes and the world-famous Niagara Falls.     This month let’s explore Canada’s smallest province, Prince Edward Island! This large island is known for red-sand beaches, lighthouses, fertile farmland, and seafood like lobster and mussels.   • Quebec
    Let's learn about Canada's predominantly French-speaking province Québec! Poutine might be Quebec's signature food, but this second-most populous province of Canada is also known for its European feel and its history, culture and warmth. Quebec is also famous for its vast forests, rolling hills and countless waterways. Quebec has approximately one million lakes and waterways, giving it more freshwater than any other province.   • Saskatchewan
    Explore the province known for its grain farming and cold winters, Saskatchewan! Saskatchewan bills itself as the "Land of Living Skies" for its magnificent sunsets, blue skies with puffy white clouds, northern lights, and significant storms. There are more roads in Saskatchewan than any other province - 26,000km. That is enough to circle the equator four times. It is home to the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, and it is the sunniest place in Canada. Have fun exploring and learning about this province with your family.   • Yukon
    Explore the smallest and westernmost of Canada's three territories, the Yukon! This territory in northwest Canada is 80%wilderness. It is a place that is sparsely populated - where moose outnumber people. Seventeen of Canada’s highest 20 mountain peaks are in the Yukon with Mount Logan being the world’s largest in circumference at its base (20km long and 5km wide). It is home to Canada’s oldest casino and world's longest paddling race. The Yukon is also culturally diverse with 14 unique First Nations calling it home.
