In the fall of 2022 the CAF Sports Office unveiled an initiative to increase women participating at all levels of sport. This initiative is aimed at promoting women’s leadership, breaking down barriers, and women’s equal participation in sport in an effort to contribute to women’s wellness by optimizing its impact on their physical, social, and mental well-being.

This group of dedicated women are looking to increase women’s participation in sport at Garrison Petawawa long term using a phased approach looking at the barriers, gaps and potential solutions that prevent women from engaging and continuing their participation in sport.

Throughout 2024, the WIS committee continued to break down barriers, promote engagement and continued to increase participation in sport by providing clinics such as skiing, golf, hiking, swimming, running, acro yoga and women’s only FORCE tests.

The plan for 2025 will see programs such as monthly women’s only FORCE tests (practice and actual), ice hockey development sessions, yoga, spin, indoor soccer and much more!
