VFP – Shifting Gears: Navigating Your Military to Civilian Transition with Confidence

Medically releasing from the CAF? This four-module program supports you and your family with practical tools, clarity, and a plan for what comes next.

  • 0900 - 1200 Tuesday
  • Transition Centre

Releasing from the Canadian Armed Forces — especially due to medical reasons — can bring unexpected emotional, financial, and identity changes for both the member and their family.

Shifting Gears is a four-week Veteran Family Program designed specifically for medically releasing CAF members and their families. Each module addresses both the why and the how of transition — from understanding the psychological impact of release to navigating benefits, rebuilding routine, strengthening relationships, and preparing for civilian life with intention.

Participants will gain:

  • A clearer understanding of the transition process

  • Practical tools to manage stress and uncertainty

  • Strategies to support family stability during change

  • Space to connect with others experiencing similar transitions

You don’t have to figure this out alone. Shifting Gears helps you move forward with clarity, confidence, and a realistic plan for your next chapter.
