Navigating Healing: Building Self-Regulation After Trauma

Understand trauma. Explore practical tools. Continue the journey with support.

  • 5:00 p.m. - 7:30 p.m.
  • Kingston Military Family Resource Centre

Traumatic experiences can affect how we respond to stress, manage emotions, connect with others and move through everyday life.

Navigating Healing is an eight-week, in-person program that helps adults better understand the effects of trauma while exploring practical tools for self-awareness, regulation and resilience.

Through guided learning, reflection and experiential practices, participants explore the connections between the body, mind, emotions, beliefs and relationships.

Who is this program for?

Navigating Healing may be helpful if you:

  • have been affected by traumatic experiences
  • support a loved one affected by trauma or an operational stress injury
  • are navigating medically released or life after military service
  • want to better understand your responses to stress
  • are interested in developing practical self-regulation tools

This program is offered through the Veteran Family Program (VFP). Priority is given to individuals eligible for the VFP; however, registration is open to other interested adults.

What will you explore?

Throughout the eight-week series, participants explore:

  • trauma and nervous-system responses
  • self-awareness and emotional regulation
  • the influence of past experiences, beliefs and values
  • trauma’s effects on relationships and family life
  • breathing, grounding and restorative practices
  • nutrition and whole-person wellbeing
  • strategies that can be continued beyond the program

Each session combines education, guided reflection and practical activities. Participants can explore the program’s tools and practices at their own pace.
