Support when you need it—because you do not need to be in crisis to reach out.
Life in the military community can bring unique challenges—relocations, absences, transitions, parenting stress, relationship strain, and the everyday weight of trying to balance it all.
The Kingston Military Family Resource Centre (KMFRC) Mental Health Clinic offers free, confidential, short-term mental health support for military families in a safe and welcoming environment.
Whether you are navigating stress, feeling overwhelmed, or simply need someone to talk to, our Mental Health and Wellness Team is here to help.
This is a supportive space for individuals, couples, and families to connect, reflect, and access guidance—without cost and without judgment.
Who Can Access This Service?
- spouses and partners of CAF members
- children and youth
- parents and caregivers
- couples and families
Please note: this service is designed to support military families. Individual CAF members attending alone are not eligible; however, couples and family support involving the CAF member is welcome.
Veterans and medically releasing CAF members may access support through couples or family counselling when connected to the military family unit.
What Support Can We Help With?
You do not need to be in crisis to access support. Some common reasons families connect with the Mental Health Clinic include:
- stress and overwhelm
- anxiety and emotional burnout
- parenting challenges
- relationship strain
- communication difficulties
- deployment and absence support
- reintegration after time apart
- family adjustment and transitions
- caregiver fatigue
- life changes and uncertainty
- safety planning
- finding the next right step
We can support with these concerns and more—this list is not limited to these experiences.
How It Works
The Mental Health Clinic is offered through flexible appointment blocks that are:
- free of charge
- completely confidential
- offered in person
- available in 30-minute or 60-minute sessions
- provided by trained mental health therapists
- designed for short-term, solution-focused support
Repeat visits are welcome, and families may register again if additional support is needed.
Meet with a Mental Health Therapist
Our Mental Health Clinic is led by the KMFRC Mental Health and Wellness Team and trained mental health therapists who understand the unique realities of military family life.
Support is compassionate, professional, and focused on helping you move forward with clarity and confidence.
Because therapists rotate, the specific provider may vary from appointment to appointment, but every session is delivered with the same commitment to care, privacy, and respect.
