When your CAF member is away, more of everyday life at home can land in your hands. Having a few practical skills in your toolkit can help you feel prepared when the little things come up.
Join the Canadian Handywoman for a hands-on workshop designed to help military spouses build confidence using common household hand tools. You’ll have the chance to use the tools yourself, ask questions and practise everyday skills in a supportive, small-group setting.
This workshop is open to adults who identify as women, including military spouses and CAF members.
You’ll learn how to safely use a hammer, screwdrivers, Allen keys, pliers, an adjustable wrench, tape measure and level while working through common household tasks and learning how to avoid common beginner mistakes.
It’s not about knowing how to fix everything—it’s about feeling more confident with the things you can handle.
No previous experience is needed. Space is limited to just 12 participants so everyone has plenty of opportunity for hands-on practice and individual guidance. Early registration is encouraged.
Workshop Schedule

| 6:30–6:40 p.m. | Welcome & Safety — Meet the facilitator, get familiar with the tools and identify what you’d like to learn. |
| 6:40–7:00 p.m. | Hammer Skills — Practise driving and removing nails and installing picture hooks. |
| 7:00–7:20 p.m. | Screws, Screwdrivers & Allen Keys — Learn which tools to use and how to help prevent stripped fasteners. |
| 7:20–7:40 p.m. | Pliers & Adjustable Wrenches — Learn when and how to use these common household tools. |
| 7:40–7:55 p.m. | Measuring & Levelling — Practise safe techniques for using a tape measure and level. |
| 7:55–8:00 p.m. | Wrap-Up — Review the key skills and takeaways from the session. |
