New to Greenwood?
If you are new to 14 Wing Greenwood, stop by and we will give you a tour of our Centre and fill you in on all of the programs and services we have to offer. We have a welcome packages for adults and children filled with great information about our community to help you get settled, including the Greenwood MFRC “Guide to Greenwood” which may also be found at cfmws.ca. Please consider us as your “go to” when looking for information on your new community.
Mental Health Support
We have social workers at the Greenwood MFRC to help you and your family with any bumps in the road you might encounter. If you are looking for short-term counselling, a referral to a community resource, some information or a listening ear, contact us today: we will be happy to help.
Greenwood MFRC Childcare
The GMFRC Casual Childcare Centre is available for those times when you need a break, have an appointment or when your regular childcare provider is unavailable. Our early childhood educators are happy to provide a fun, safe and educational experience for your children.
Employment and Education
If you are looking to explore your education and employment opportunities, we can help with résumé writing, job search techniques, interview prep and with finding a new career or educational path for adults and youth. We also host the Military Family Business Group, designed to help entrepreneurs work together to grow their businesses - all while working together in a supportive, constructive environment.
Parent and Child Programs
If you need parenting advice, support or information, we can help. If you are looking for formal courses, such as Home Alone, Friends for Life, Babysitter’s Course; or social groups, including Parent and Tot, Baby Group and Tumble Tots, we have a variety. Join us and get to know other parents while your child makes new friends and learns new skills. Military families must always be prepared for the unexpected, so count on us to assist you with emergency childcare planning as well as routine childcare searches.
Deployment
If you are experiencing a separation due to deployment, training or a course, or have one coming up, please come and see us. We offer the Road to Mental Readiness training, deployment support socials for you and your children, and morale mail service for when your loved one is deployed overseas or in Alert. We are always here as a friendly, understanding ear!
Volunteer
If you are looking to get out, meet new people, contribute to your community, build your résumé and have fun, come see us. We have volunteer opportunities to interest everyone - from youth aged 12 years to adults. We are more than willing to help you use your talents to your full potential - all while helping to shape our programming!
Services for veterans
We can help you and your family transition into a civilian lifestyle by connecting you to community resources, recreating your résumé, exploring a new career path and advocating for you and your family when needed. All services at the Greenwood MFRC are offered to veterans and their families.
Francophone and second language services
We offer online LRGG learning opportunities for those looking to learn a new language, improve their language skills or just try something new. Francophone family programs, such as Café Franco, are also offered at the Greenwood MFRC so Franco families have opportunities to gather together in their own language and celebrate their own culture.
