Greenwood Military Family Services (MFS)

The Board of Directors of the Greenwood Military Family Resource Centre (MFRC) has requested the transfer of the governance of the delivery of the Military Family Services Program (MFSP) from the Board of Directors to Military Family Services (MFS), a division of Canadian Forces Morale and Welfare Services (CFMS).   

While there will be certain changes in staff and service providers, the governance transition will not impact the organization’s overall objective of serving the military family community. 

The Board is aiming for a seamless transition from a governance board to an advisory committee while maintaining the principle of “by families for families”. 

 The transition is ongoing and will be complete by March 31, 2025.

The Greenwood Child Care Centre will continue to be operated by the Greenwood MFRC, a provincially incorporated not-for profit entity with the primary role of governing the child care operations. There will be no changes to current operations or staffing. 

In shifting the MFSP to Greenwood MFS, there will be a transition in the overall governance from the current Board of Directors to an Advisory Committee, with minimum 51% military family membership.

The advisory committee will be made up of a group of volunteers representing military families in the Greenwood community. The committee informs, reviews and promotes programs and services in the community.
