Unit Health Promotion Representative positions are voluntary (secondary duty) positions and provide support to the Health Promotion (HP) team by helping promote HP programming, campaigns and events within their individual units.
If you are unsure of what being a Unit Health Promotion Representative is all about - here is a quick summary:
Do you want to work on creating a healthier and more positive environment?
Are you interested in health, promoting health and concerned about the where that information comes from - i.e. evidence-informed not Bro-science
Do you want to be involved in making shifts in the environment you work in - from better/more choices in the canteen, to unit/team building challenges, to stairwell prompts, environmental scans (that will showcase what is working well and where some changes may be beneficial) to name a few?
Do you want to help to spread the word about programs, workshops and other people that are available to your team-mates that can help them (and you) optimize your health and get you thriving, not just surviving?
Do you like the idea of providing short briefs on Health Promotion topics to enhance your leadership/public speaking/facilitation skills?
If you answered yes (or are maybe unsure but curious) then contact us for more information on upcoming training opportunities.
Handbook for UHPRs
Here is the handbook for your reference. It goes through what Health Promotion is and does currently, it describes the 4 core areas we are responsible for and briefly highlights the courses/workshops but most importantly it provides a guideline (very flexible) in terms of what we hope the UHPRs will be able to help us accomplish!
UHPR TRAINING - INFORMATION/NOTES
Thanks to those who showed interest in and were able to attend our first two training sessions! We think they were a success and as well as the powerpoint, you can also find below the links to the summary documents from the discussions and a bit of the where to from here information that came out of those exchanges.
