MEDICAL PLANS
Provincial Medical Coverage
- Upon clearing into either the Wing Orderly Room or Squadron Orderly Room, dependent family members will be enrolled into the Provincial Medical Coverage program. The Province of BC now waives the 3 month wait time to activate enrolment for military families coming from another Canadian province. Be sure to enquire at the orderly room about this waiver.

BC Fair PharmaCare Plan
- Upon relocating to BC, it is mandatory that you enroll in the BC Fair PharmaCare Plan in order for SUNLIFE to properly complete your future claims.
- To register, phone 1-800-663-7100 and state that you are a military family. Before you phone, make sure to have:
- 1. The civilian family member’s BC Care Card number
- 2. Birth dates
- 3. Social Insurance numbers for both the military member and civilian spouse;
- 4. Income Tax statements from 2 years ago including NET Income (Line 23600).
- 5. Any income from a Registered Disability Savings Plan (RDSP) (line 12500)

FAMILY DOCTORS
There is a shortage of family physicians accepting new patients in the Comox Valley and it can often be very difficult to find a family physician. Walk-in clinics and Virtual Doctors are a great option for families unable to secure a family doctor.

- Island Health is asking patients who are looking for family doctor to register with Health Connect. Health Connect works with clinics in your community to help you find a family doctor or nurse practitioner.

- This clinic is for people who need to see a doctor quickly but does not require emergency services. This clinic is NOT a replacement for routine care from your family doctor. This clinic provides same day, non-emergency care for minor cuts requiring stitches, sprains, injuries, fevers, infections, sore throats, earaches and more. NO WALK INS.

- This service provides children’s booster shots, travel and routine immunizations including flu shots (also available at most physician's offices). There is also health information, a health library, post-natal and breastfeeding counselling.

- A registered nurse is available for private consultations by appointment or on a drop in basis. This service provides information about existing support groups, referrals to other community agencies, and health care resources.
