Chapels & Chaplains

The Chaplains provide support to the members and the families of 19 Wing. 

The Chaplains on the Wing are each assigned Squadrons/Units to best assist the Chain of Command and who offer pastoral services to maintain operational readiness. Chaplains are called upon to provide services to all, regardless of beliefs.

There are two chapel communities at 19 Wing: Our Lady of the Sacred Heart (RC community) and St. Michael and All Angels (Protestant community). All present and former serving members, and civilians and their families are welcome to share in the worship and fellowship of the Chapels. The two chapels are now co-located at the newly renovated Faith Centre, located at 1445 Military Row, next to Glacier Gardens Arena.

Chaplain Team

Our Lady of the Sacred Heart RC Chapel

Mass: Thursday, 1130 hrs, preceded by adoration at 1100
            Sunday, 0930 hours

Beginning in May 2025, Mass every Tuesday and Wednesday beginning at 1215 hrs.

Services: 

  • Baptisms: By appointment with RC Chaplain (local 8273). Contact RC Chaplain at least three months in advance to arrange mandatory preparation classes and to obtain information regarding the necessary administration process.
  • Reconciliations: By appointment or before Sunday Mass.
  • Marriages: By appointment only. At least nine months’ notice is required for preparation, as a marriage course is required, new baptismal certificates, etc.
  • Sacramental Preparation: First Communion and Reconciliation for children begins in September and is completed during Easter season.
  • Catholic Women’s League: Monthly meetings.
  • Knights of Columbus: Second Wednesday of each month at Christ the King Church, Courtenay.

Service Schedule: In person services will be posted on the BBS or 19 Wing Chapel Community Facebook page. We have moved to six services a year in person.

Baptisms and Weddings: Arrangement are made through the Chaplains office with a minimum of four months' notice.
