Yellowknife Paddling

Yellowknife has approximately four months of open water from June through September. With our 18 to 20 hour days, Great Slave Lake and hundreds of smaller lakes right on the doorstep, you can enjoy a lot of time on the water. Rent a canoe, kayak or stand up paddle. You can go for a half hour paddle, a three day trip or a month long expedition, by changing direction from any one of several drop in points.


NARWAL

Northern and Remote Wilderness Adventures Ltd. (NARWAL) is a small, friendly, majority Aboriginal owned and operated family business. Their reputation as a competent, safety conscious outdoor adventure school is well established, having been in operation for 34 years.

NARWAL offers boat rentals, First Aid training, paddle courses, camps and tours.


Old Town Paddle & Co.

The Old Town Paddle & Co. (OTP) started stand up a few years ago before the sport became increasingly popular in Yellowknife.

OTP wants to grow the sport in our community and encourage anyone from families to seniors to fitness fanatics to get on a board and hit the water. Whether you want to jump on a board with your kids, do some recreational racing, try your luck at white-water SUP, or venture out on a long tour, SUP is fun, easy, and great exercise.


Overlander Sports

Overlander sports provides rentals for Canoe, kayak and Stand Up Paddleboards. All rentals include a PFD with whistle and additional accessories.


Somba K'e Paddling Club

Established in 1999, the Somba K’e Paddling Club is a registered not-for profit organization operating in Yellowknife, NT. Their mission is to develop and promote the sport of paddling in the Yellowknife area for folks of all ages and experience levels.

The Club focus' on access and development of paddling routes; education and instruction of skills, safety, and respect for the land and water; and, social support and connections for YK paddlers. They strive to collaborate with local businesses and non-profit organizations to promote outdoor activities and a diversified outdoor industry. To achieve this mission, we maintain a fleet a canoes, kayaks and stand-up paddle boards so paddlers can develop the skills and strengths required for technical competency and athletic excellence.
