Returning to Canada to study

Canadian Armed Forces families with high school-aged children may prepare for university or college applications while OUTCAN.

As their situations are unique (applying as Canadian military dependants attending high schools abroad), they may experience specific issues during the applications process.  Connect with the MVFS Education Team to find supports available to your teens during this time and to speak with a guidance counselor.

With an eye toward OUTCAN circumstances, and to assist CAF families navigating post-secondary education, MFS(US) hosted and interviewed recruiters and admissions officers from coast to coast. A Virtual Canadian Post-Secondary Education Library was created, filled with information recordings highlighting several different universities and colleges across Canada. Check to see if your school of choice is listed!  In these recordings you can find information on:

  • Credit and course requirements/equivalency
  • Minimum grade requirements
  • Residency status during application
  • Live-In Residence availability
  • Tips and tricks for filling out supplemental applications
  • Virtual tours, and
  • Health insurance.

Still have questions? Contact the admissions professionals of the universities or colleges you are interested in. Many of these contacts are included in the recordings library
