Health Services for OUTCAN Military Families

Healthcare & Dental

Health Insurance

While OUTCAN, families of Canadian Armed Forces members do not retain provincial health care coverage. Instead, they are enrolled in comprehensive coverage through the Public Service Health Care Plan, which is administered by MSH International.  Be sure to confirm limits and eligibility before incurring any expenses.

Submit claims to MSH either through the MSH PSHCP Member Portal or by mail. You can download the form here, which must be completed and scanned with itemized receipts. * Note members must be first confirmed enrolled in the plan.

You can mail a completed claim to:

Dental Insurance

While OUTCAN, families of Canadian Armed Forces members are covered for dental care through the Public Service Dental Care Plan by Canada Life, with the same coverage in Canadian dollars as they receive in Canada. Claims can be submitted electronically through the GroupNet app.

Mental Health

Canadian Armed Forces families have access to mental health professionals while OUTCAN:

  • Dependants may be eligible for services from a registered psychologist through the Public Service Health Care Plan (administered by MSH International while OUTCAN). See benefit information for a full list of eligible expenses.

  • Confidential, short-term counselling for CAF members and their dependants is available 24/7 through the Canadian Forces Member Assistance Program (CFMAP).

  • Bilingual crisis management, referral, and supportive non-medical counselling available 24/7 through the Family Information Line
    at 1-800-866-4546 (00-800-771-17722 international).

  • Canadian Armed Forces Chaplains (Padres) support the moral and spiritual wellbeing of military personnel and their families – domestically and internationally, whether they identify with a particular Faith Tradition, have no specific spiritual/faith practice, belief or custom, or are spiritually curious.  To get in touch with an OUTCAN chaplain, contact the Family Information Line at 1-800-866-4546 (00-800-771-17722 international).
