Swim Lessons in Greenwood

  • Lifesaving Society Swim Lessons

    • Summer 2024 Session 1 Lesson Schedule -- Summer-2024-Session-1-Swim-Lessons
    • Summer 2024 Session 1 Online Swim Registration opens 10 June 2024 at 1900 and runs July 8th to 18th (week days only).
    • Summer 2024 Session 2 Online Swim Registration opens 15 July 2024 at 1900 and runs July 29 to August 9th (week days only).
    • Summer 2024 Session 3 Online Swim Registration opens 29 July 2024 at 1900 and runs August 19th to 29th (week days only).

    • Swim lessons are scheduled for 8 sessions running each week day per session. In the summer 8 sessions over two weeks.  If a lesson is cancelled due to weather or pool closures classes will be made up at end of session. 
    • Private and Semi-Private lessons are open for online registration on a first come first serve basis. 
    • Cancellations will be notified via email, phone call or you can call the at (902) 765- 1494 ext. 5564.  Like us on Facebook -- 14 Wing Greenwood Aquatics PSP -- for updates on upcoming registrations, cancellations, and other pool events.  
    • Please bring in your previous report cards.  This allows the instructor to know what your child needs to work on in the next level.  As well this save money.  If the cards are not returned we have to purchase new ones. 
    • Instructors have been told that swimmers must be proficient at the skill before checking off the skill.  This must be a minimum of three times.  Just because your child is able to perform the skill may not mean he/she is proficient enough to move to the next level with this skill.  If you have questions on what your child should be working on please leave a note for the instructor at the front desk following your lesson.

    Pre-requisites  13 years of age (proof required) and up OR successful completion of the Bronze Star Course

  • National Lifeguard Courses

    Become a Lifeguard!

    National Lifeguard (NL) certification is the industry standard for lifeguards in Canada.  NL guards are water rescue professionals trained in emergency care.  They prevent accidents.  They are trained to spot potential trouble and intervene before it becomes life-threatening.  They identify hazards and determine safe practices.  They educate the public about the hazards and risks associated with acquatic activities.

    This course includes the National Lifeguard (NL) certification.  Candidates develop teamwork, leadership and communication skills.  Fitness requirements include a timed object recovery and swim with a 20 lb object, 50 m rescue drill, 50 m sprint and 400 m endurance challenges.  Candidates will also be assessed on the team and individual lifeguarding situational skills.
