Celebrating Away from Home

For some people, this time is filled with joy and excitement, but for others, being separated from family can amplify feelings of homesickness and loneliness.

Here are a few tips for navigating the holidays while OUTCAN:

Carry on traditions...
Keep up with your family traditions in your new home: things like decorating the house while listening to a holiday playlist, enjoying holiday baking, or cozying up for a movie marathon!

...and make new ones too!
Enjoy festive scenery when the village Christmas lights are turned on - locals often gather to watch. You can also enjoy treats and shopping at the many Christmas markets around the UK or Europe. If you enjoy having a laugh, don’t forget to check out a pantomime musical!

Get together with friends near...
Gather with local friends for some festive fun or take advantage of Remote Outreach Funding and plan something with other Canadians in your area!

...and far!
Get together with family and friends virtually using apps like Zoom or FaceTime. You can even play online games or do a virtual escape room together!
