Core Goal: Teaches youth how to safely operate weight room and cardio equipment, understand dumbbell modifications, comprehend basic programming, spotting and anatomy while building gym confidence.
Physical activity is crucial for youth development. Current recommendations suggest that youth should participate in at least 60 minutes of moderate to vigorous physical activity daily. In addition to aerobic activities such as running, dance or cycling, research increasingly indicates that regular participation in a youth strength-training program can offer observable health, fitness and performance benefits for children and adolescents.
This is a two-hour program that teaches teens, how to use the weight room/ cardio room machines safely and appropriately. **This course only covers cardio room machines and machines in the weight room and dumbbells modifications. It does not cover advanced movements or techniques.**
- Teens will be given a certificate upon completion of the orientation, as well as a one-time entry pass to put their new skills into action.
- Teens do not automatically pass this course, parents may be advised to seek further training.
- Teens must show respect, maturity and take this course seriously.
- Participation and use of the equipment is required.
Health screening, registration form and waiver must be filled in prior to training. Teens who do not have this paperwork completed, will not be able to participate in the training.
Parents must come into the facility with their teen to drop them off and ensure that the appropriate paperwork has been completed.
Ages 12-15 must have adult accompanying them, even after the course as per MyFitness rules, but there are Youth classes offered that they can also attend with membership.
Please arrive 15 minutes before the orientation starts to make sure paperwork is complete and the teens are changed/rerady to start on time.
