The Inter-unit Pedometer Challenge is an inter-unit challenge that turns physical activity into a driving force for team spirit, pride, and collective commitment. By aiming for 8,000 steps a day, each participant directly contributes to their unit’s success.

Simple, accessible, and inspiring, the challenge helps people incorporate more physical activity into their daily lives—at work, at home, or during organized activities—while strengthening their sense of belonging to CFB Bagotville. The previous edition attracted nearly 420 participants, doubling the turnout from previous years and demonstrating the community’s growing commitment to an active lifestyle.

  • Challenge dates: May 1–31, 2026
  • Individual goal: 8,000 steps per day
  • Eligible participants: military personnel, civilian employees, and workers at CFB Bagotville
  • Registration and tracking: via a shared Excel file.


Challenge Rules

      • Daily step entries are strongly recommended to help your team climb the leaderboard, but are not mandatory
      • Retroactive entries are allowed
      • Deadline for submitting steps: June 1 at 10 a.m.

Rankings and Recognition

Inter-unit Trophies

Two (2) trophies will be awarded as part of the Pedometer Challenge:

  • 🏆1 trophy – Large Unit category
  • 🏆1 trophy – Small Unit category

🎯 Main award criterion

The trophy is awarded to the unit with the highest success rate, calculated based on the proportion of unit members who reached 8,000 steps per day.

Unit participation requirements:

To ensure fairness, this criterion must be met to be eligible:

  • Small Units: minimum 25% participation
  • Large Units: minimum 10% participation

Several other prizes will be drawn across these categories:

  • Prizes drawn from among participants in the winning team
  • Prizes drawn from among participants in the team with the highest participation rate
  • Prizes drawn from among participants who tracked their steps every day
  • Prizes drawn from among participants who reached 8,000 steps every day

🚶‍♂️  Group Walks

Two key events are directly linked to the Pedometer Challenge and help foster a sense of unity and engagement throughout Physical Activity Month.

1.Kickoff Walk – May 1

The Kickoff Walk officially kicks off the Pedometer Challenge and Physical Activity Month. It’s an opportunity to start the month together, get moving, and motivate each other for the 31 days ahead.

Last year, nearly 80 participants gathered to kick off the challenge in a dynamic and positive atmosphere.

2.Marche de fermeture – avec la participation du CPE Alouette

The closing walk is a highlight and a unifying moment to mark the end of the Pedometer Challenge and celebrate the efforts made throughout the month.

The event will take place in the presence of the command team and the children and families of CPE Alouette, reinforcing the initiative’s family-oriented, inclusive, and community-focused nature.

During the last edition, nearly 200 participants in the Pedometer Challenge took part.

This event will also feature the official presentation of the inter-unit trophies. A spectacular, festive event not to be missed!
