Carcinogen reduction exposure program

Firefighters are regularly exposed to hazards in the workplace, some of which are carcinogens (cancer-causing chemicals or agents). Exposures to carcinogens may occur during emergency response, training, and routine activities in the fire station. To reduce the risk of exposures, the National Defence Fire Service (NDFS) has developed a Carcinogen Reduction Exposure Program (CERP).
