January 2022 - Craig and Tracy Pye

The Pyes – Craig, a Reserve Force member, and Tracy, a warrant officer – have been actively involved in helping organize and run various events that take place on the 5 Wing Goose Bay base in Newfoundland.

The married couple of 26 years are high school sweethearts who grew up five hours away from Goose Bay and understand the challenges some feel when they get posted to the base. They say they want to help make everyone’s experience as great as possible.
The two have been involved as engaged members of the Canuck Club Mess Committee, from decorating 5 Wing’s float in the local Christmas Parade and helping out with Halloween tunnels to stepping in to support a warming shelter at the local chapel during an extended power outage – and everything in between.

“I just really like to help out in any way and jumping in where we can,” says Craig. “We like helping improve morale and being involved.”
Having the couple involved is almost a given now at events.

“They seem to be everywhere,” says Adam Cull, deputy manager PSP, 5 Wing Goose Bay. “They are quick to help out at any point and their involvement is contagious to others.”

The dynamic duo admitted they are quick to volunteer as soon as a call goes out.

“We just really enjoy being involved,” says Tracy. “This base is like a family and being involved is second nature.”
