The Advisory Committee’s role is to share their collective perspectives and expertise, to provide valuable input and feedback, as well as to strengthen the MFS-NCR’s connection to CAF families.
 

MFS-NCR Advisory Committee

The purpose of Military Family Services-National Capital Region (MFS-NCR) is aligned with Military Family Services’ (MFS) mission statement: to contribute to the operational readiness of the Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) by providing services than enhance family resilience and stabilization in the face of military challenges.

The Military Family Services-National Capital Region (MFS-NCR) Advisory Committee (AC) exists to provide support, input, and advice to the Senior Manager, MFS-NCR. The AC is intended to support the principles of the Military and Veteran Family Services Program (MVFSP) by engaging in community development and advocacy, and promoting the delivery of programs and services “By Families, For Families.”
Teamwork - Collaborate with others to achieve common goals.
Network and Build Relationships within Community - Communicate with the community to understand their needs, and ensure they are the primary focus; suggest adaptations to programming to meet the needs of the current community.
Leadership - Promote the tenets of the Military and Veteran Family Services Program (MVFSP) within all aspects of the military community.
Initiative - Communicate with the military community to determine their needs and recommend solutions.
Competence - Demonstrate the ability to successfully engage the community to seek input on program development.
Innovation - Collaborate to develop innovative tangible solutions for community engagement.
The AC’s role is to share their collective perspectives and expertise, to provide valuable input and feedback, as well as to strengthen the MFS-NCR’s connection to CAF families, while understanding and supporting the MVFSP.

This is a voluntary group that advises MFS-NCR to ensure that programs and services meet community needs. The goal is also to help increase visibility and legitimacy of the organization within the region. This group will also help to inform the strategic direction of program development at the local level, but does not hold authority over any of the staff or have any financial or fiscal responsibility.

About the Advisory Committee

Who - The AC provides authentic representation of all CAF members and families posted within the NCR. Members are instated for a 2-year term, with the option of re-instatement thereafter.
What - This is a voluntary group that advises the MFS-NCR team to ensure that programs and services meet community needs.
Where - Meetings are conducted virtually for maximum attendance.
When - The Advisory Committee meets once per month for one hour in the evening.
