14 Wing Greenwood Curling Club

The 14 Wing Curling Club is a four sheet curling facility located on the base itself situated beside the Arena.

The club has been in operation since the 1960s, and normally operates from late October until early April. The curling club offers leagues, programs and bonspiel services to military members, veterans, NPF/DND staff and their families as well as open to the general public. We are also available to rent for birthday parties, private functions and private leagues.


Facility

  • The curling club offers both a bar and kitchen areas within the building
  • The kitchen is normally used for bonspiel activities and is fully equipped to serve users
  • The bar is well stocked with various brands of domestic and foreign beer, alcohol, wine and coolers
  • We also provide a wide variety of non alcoholic sodas, juices, coffee (Tim Hortons Keurig) and hot chocolate 
  • Snack food is limited to chips and chocolate bars.
  • Change / locker rooms are located on the second floor along with the washrooms.

League Schedule

  • Friday thru Sunday
    The weekends are normally reserved for Bonspiels, normally scheduled after Christmas each year.  Recent years have seen the following spiels booked for our club:
    •  Annual Atlantic C + E (Communications + Engineering) Bonspiel
    •  Annual Atlantic RMS Clerks Bonspiel
    •  Annual Atlantic Medical Bonspiel
    These events are functions of sections on the Wing.
     
    The 14 Wing Greenwood Curling Club normally hosts the Men’s and Ladies Closing Bonspiels in early April of each year. These events attract curlers from around the province and are normally at capacity long before the start dates.
     
    The Curling Club has also hosted local schools in the area to introduce their students to the sport.
  • Monday Men’s
    •  This league is open to men only and normally starts play at 1900 hrs. 
    •  Players can join the league as a single or with 3 others to form a team.

  • Tuesday Women's
    •  This league runs the same as the men’s except it is for women only.
    •  All participants must be willing to enjoy themselves to the fullest as camaraderie is the cornerstone of this league.

  • Wednesday Mixed
    •  As the title states this league is for both men and women to compete along side one another.
    •  Each team consists of two men and two women and through their rocks alternately
    •  In most instances the skip and vice skip should be of different gender
    •  League starts at 1900 hrs

  • Thursday Juniors
    •  This league normally starts at 1615 hrs and runs till 1745
    •  This league is dependant both on number of entries and the required qualified coaches available.
