Workshop Descriptions and Registration

  • Alcohol, Other Drugs, Gambling and Gaming Awareness for Supervisors
    This workshop is for supervisors (MCPL and above). Participants will increase awareness, learn how to respond to problematic alcohol/cannabis/ other drug use, gambling and gaming. Topics covered: CAF policies, medical process, supervisor process, effective interviewing skills, harm reduction, enabling, and culture change. MITE code provided upon workshop completion.
    2 day workshop.
  • Butt Out
    Designed to help individuals reduce their use or quit nicotine. Topics covered: problem solving for everyday triggers, planning for high-risk situations, social support, relapse prevention and maintaining positive change. Open to all forms of nicotine (smoked tobacco products, smokeless tobacco products, e-cigarettes, etc.)
    In person, virtual or phone appointments available.
  • Injury Reduction Strategies for Sports and Physical Activity
    This program will increase participants' knowledge and understanding of where injuries occur in the CAF and how to reduce the risk of being injured during sports and PT Topics covered: running strategies, sports protective equipment, key fitness program elements, spine health and training the core properly.
    Half day workshop.
  • Inter-Comm
    Improve communication within personal relationships by learning the attitudes and skills required to deal with conflict effectively. Through exercise and coaching, participants learn to: understand conflict and increase active listening skills. Use a collaborative model for resolving conflict built on interest-based communication skills, and use collaboration and communication to support health and well-being in relationships.
    1 day workshop.
  • Managing Angry Moments
    Helps participants understand and deal with their triggers, before anger escalates to physical or verbal aggression. Participants learn new tools to defuse situations and develop coping strategies that will ultimately increase personal wellbeing and improve their relationships with others.
    3 half day workshops.
  • Mental Fitness and Suicide Awareness
    Designed to promote awareness and skill-building, to maximize mental fitness both individually and in the workplace, and to lessen the incidence of mental health injuries including suicide. Topics covered: Mental Health Continuum and mental fitness. How to improve and maintain your mental fitness, and the role of the supervisor in promoting a culture of understanding and mental fitness. How to recognize signs of a person in distress, how to intervene and help someone having thoughts of suicide get the help they need. MITE code provided upon workshop completion.

  • Respect in the CAF
    The interactive workshop uses scenarios, discussions and small group practical activities to help CAF members develop and practice skills to recognize, respond, and prevent sexual misconduct as well as support those affected by it. HRMS code provided upon completion.

  • Stress Take Charge!
    Helps participants develop an understanding of the stress reaction based on their individual life stressors, learn tools and select coping mechanisms that they can use in everyday life to make changes and manage their stress levels.

  • Top Fuel for Top Performance
    Sports nutrition program provides information for individuals who are physically active, training for specific athletic events, preparing to deploy, or looking to fine tune their current diet for an active lifestyle. Topics covered: nutrition 101, fine tuning eating, fueling up healthy in CAF dining facilities, fuel for training and recovery, body composition, sports supplements fueling for action on combat rations.

  • The Essential Nutrition Course
    The Essential Nutrition Course was developed by Registered Dietitians (RD) and a public health and preventive medicine specialist physician. It explains the science of nutrition, and covers topics like food budgeting, label reading, tips for easy meal planning, and healthy recipes in 5 modules. Develop practical knowledge and skills to optimize your peak performance and become confident in your food decisions.
