Children's Education Management (CEM) - Allowances & Expenses
Children’s Education Management (CEM) oversees education benefits, allowances, and schooling continuity for CAF families, offering tailored support to minimize the impact of relocations on children’s learning.

Foreign Service Directives (FSDs) are government directives for dependant education and travel benefits - key directives include:- FSD 34 - Education Allowances
- FSD 35 - Education Travel

CAF members can access forms for educational screening and education expense claims through the Defence Forms Catalogue or the Children's Education Management SharePoint. Both resources are available only on the National Defence network. -
U.S. School Liaison Program
School liaisons are located at each U.S. installation and serve as the primary point of contact between military families and local school systems. They provide support for all Pre-K–12 education matters, including school transitions, school selection, referrals, credit transfers, and connecting families with local education resources. -
Support Our Troops Reimbursement Programs
Support Our Troops (SOT) offers reimbursement programs to help eligible CAF families manage eligible education and disability-related expenses, including:
- Tutoring Reimbusement Program: Reimbursement for eligible tutoring expenses to help children adapt to curriculum changes following a CAF relocation.
- Disability Reimbursement Program: Financial assistance for eligible disability-related educational supports and services required as a result of a CAF relocation.
