August 2023 - Stacey Caines

How do you know what inspires you? Some would say that Stacey Caines is an inspiration to the St. John’s MFRC team and CAF families alike in contributing to the mental, physical and social development of young children and their caregivers.

Stacey has been an active volunteer with the St. John’s MFRC for over 2 years, providing support to the early childhood program.

“The impact of Stacey’s volunteer contributions to the early childhood navigation services programs is palpable. Stacey’s work ethic, positive and empathetic attitude, compassion and spirit of inclusion embody the mission of the St. John's MFRC Providing services that strengthen military families”, says Shelley Goulding, St. John’s MFRC.

“I started attending the playgroups at the MFRC when my daughter was six months old. Playgroups are a great way to feel connected to others, and it made perfect sense for me to give back,” says Stacey. “Every little bit helps when it comes to volunteering, from preparing the coffee and tea, snacks, cleaning up and assisting with crafts and activities.”

As a full-time Class B Naval Reservist, Stacey appreciates the support and continued sense of community that being a volunteer provides.

Stacey encourages others to volunteer if they can. “I was surprised to find that giving a little of my time had such a big impact on myself, and others. The staff are phenomenal and treat me like part of the family.”
