Yoga for PTSD (Online)

Join us to learn about self-care and self-management tools for managing conditions like Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), Operational Stress Injury (OSI), Anxiety, and/or Depression, as well as symptoms such as pain and fatigue.

This virtual, 12 week program is designed to teach participants to create healthy habits and teach non-pharmacological (non-medical) coping skills such as; yoga, grounding techniques, breathing techniques for emotional regulation and stress reduction, mindfulness, meditation, sleep promotion through breathwork, developing a self-care program. This is open to people of all skill levels in the military and veteran community.
 
Throughout the program, there will be opportunities for participants to share their experiences and receive support from the instructor and fellow participants. Modifications and adaptations will be provided to accommodate individual needs and abilities.
 
We recommend that you register at the beginning of the 12-week program and attend all sessions. However, you are welcome to join at any point during the program.
 
Overview of the Program:
 
Week 1 & 2 (Sept 12 & 19) - Introduction to Yoga and PTSD
Overview of PTSD Symptoms and their effects on the body and mind. Intro to basic yoga postures focusing on grounding and centering techniques.
 
Week 3 & 4 (Sept 26 & Oct 3) - Breath Awareness and Regulation
Understanding the connection between breath and emotional regulation. Practicing deep breathing exercises for stress relief and relaxation.
 
Week 5 & 6 (Oct 10 & 17) - Mindfulness and Meditation
Intro to mindfulness practices for cultivating present-moment awareness, guided meditation for relaxation and emotional balance.
 
Week 7 & 8 (Oct 24 & Tues Oct 29) - Movement and Flow
Incorporating breath with movement in flowing yoga sequences. Exploring gentle vinyasa flow sequences, noticing sensations and emotions during movement.
 
Week 9 & 10 (Nov 7 & 14) - Yoga Nidra and Deep Relaxation
Intro to Yoga Nidra (yogic sleep) for deep relaxation and stress reduction. Guided Yoga Nidra practice focusing on releasing tension and promoting restful sleep.
 
Week 11 & 12 (Nov 21 & 28) - Integration and Self-Reflection
Review of techniques learned throughout the program, emphasizing self-care practices. Group discussion and sharing of experiences, goal setting for continued practice. Developing a personalized routine for ongoing support.
 
 
About the Instructor:
 
Corrina AnnePoss is a practitioner who offers a range of services that combine Bio-field tuning forks, yoga, Pilates, Redcord Neuromuscular suspension therapy, massage, and reflexology to assist with pain management. In addition, she utilizes trauma-informed shamanic techniques to support her clients. Yoga and Pilates are physical practices that focus on strength, flexibility, and alignment, while Redcord Neuromuscular suspension therapy challenges the body's stability and strength using suspended ropes and slings. Massage and reflexology are hands-on techniques that aim to release tension and promote relaxation in the body. Shamanic techniques often involve spiritual or energetic practices that aim to promote healing and balance. Trauma-informed approaches to these techniques can help create a safe and supportive environment for individuals who may have experienced trauma or feel triggered by certain practices.
