Entrepreneurs & HERCS

Get ready to start a business and join nearly 10% of military spouses and family members who are already self-employed. Access the resources you need to create a job that travels with you when you move.

Many military family members have successfully transported their respective businesses with them as they move from posting to posting. It may not be easy, but it can be done! Military Family Services is working with MFRCs and other community partners to establish training opportunities and resources for military family entrepreneurs.

HERCS (Helping Entrepreneurs Reach Complete Success)

Can’t find that perfect job? Why not create it!

HERCS program is a daylong workshop designed to help CAF family members start or improve their small business. What started as a local partnership with Loyalist College almost a decade ago has now grown to national level. The HERCS program focuses on Helping Entrepreneurs Reach Complete Success (HERCS).

The program is funded through Military Family Services (MFS) and is free to attend. All participants to the program receive a detailed manual, links to resources and ongoing support. The program is available online through WebEx so anyone can join in. All you need is a headset with microphone and a business idea to work with.  The HERCS program is reviewed and updated regularly.  It’s offered in both English and French and covers a variety of topics including:

  • small business ownership
  • marketing
  • social media
  • financing options
  • business canvas
  • resources

Registration is open to all military and veteran spouses with priority given to military spouses. Register today!

Late registrations may be accepted. Contact [email protected].

Establish a successful freelance business
