Second Language Training in the Montreal Region


Training in English or French as a second language is available to military spouses and military children over the age of six. All courses are free of charge and are offered virtually and at our Saint-Jean and Saint-Hubert service points. A minimum of five (5) students at a similar level is required to form a class, and the schedule is based on registrations. To assess your level, you must take a placement test held during registration week.  
 

Second language courses 

 Training in English or French as a second language is available to military spouses and military children over the age of six. There will be two terms per year: September to December and February to May. We offer French and English courses (grammar, reading, writing, conversation, comprehension) with one or two classes per week (day or evening classes available). All courses are free of charge and are offered virtually, at the Saint-Jean Garrison and at our Saint-Hubert service point. A minimum of five students at a similar level is required to form a class.

French or english second language courses for adults

Multi-level conversation workshops 

 Training with a focus on practising conversation skills.

Francization 

Emploi-Québec offers full-time francization courses to help you enter the labour market. You may qualify for Employment Insurance or allowances if you meet the eligibility criteria. Since Emploi-Québec offers service in French only, the MFRC can guide you, provide translation assistance and support you in joining this type of course.

French or english second language training for kids and help with homework 

Training in English or French as a second language is available for children (6–12 years old) and teens (13–16 years old) at the MFRC. Help with French and English homework is also available on request.
