Beyond words: Building healthy relationships (Delivered in French)

October 21, 2026, from 5:00 p.m.to 7:00 p.m.

As part of the Military Family Support Program's (MFSP) promotional campaign on “Healthy Relationships,” the Borden Family Resource Centre invites you to a free workshop on communication and healthy interpersonal relationships.

You’ll learn to recognize communication styles, set boundaries respectfully and identify early warning signs of a toxic relationship, while discovering the characteristics of a healthy and fulfilling one.

Inter-Personal Communication (Inter-Comm)

2 FULL DAY SESSIONS (0830-1600hrs)

20 & 21 October (attendance to both days mandatory)

Improve communication within personal relationships by learning the attitudes and skills required to deal with conflict effectively. Through exercises and coaching, participants learn to: understand conflict and increase active listening skills, use a collaborative model for resolving conflict built on Interest-based communication skills, and use collaboration and communication to support health and well-being in relationships. 

What you will learn about:

  • Causes of conflict and how it escalates.
  • Conflict management styles – find yours!
  • Interest-based communication
  • Collaborative communication model and how to use it to resolve issues.
  • Active and Empathic listening skills.


You vs. You: How to Stop Getting in Your Own Way

October 27 from 1300-1500

Description: You already know what you want. So what's really stopping you? A deeper dive into the gap between knowing, deciding, and doing.  

Your local Family Violence Awareness Team invites you to join us for this hybrid session, where you will learn how/when to take action when dealing with issues of family violence.

Join us for Bingo, where you can find ways to improve your communication skills, strengthen your relationships and could also have a chance to win some great prizes!


Evening Communication Skills Workshop

 2 sessions, October 26 and 28, 1700-1900 hrs

Join us on October 26 and 28th from 1700 to 1900 for a 2-part series to improve your personal communication.  We will be discussing the various communication and conflict management styles, learning several communication skills, and also how to apply these skills to effectively manage conflict.
